2021 Regional Special Rules

Note that the following set of rules is specific only for the 2021Yokohama Regional Contest to be held March 15-16, 2022.

The contest will be run under the honor system, i.e., there will be no proctor. All contestants are expected to follow the rules. If a contestant is found to have broken any of the rules, that team may be disqualified.

Contestants will be required to submit a pledge that they will follow the rules BEFORE the contest. Details will be sent to the contestants before the contest.

 

  1.  Contest room
    • Contestants must participate in a closed room where nobody other than the contestant’s team members are inside. The room may be anywhere including the contestant’s home or university, as long as the room is kept private. Participation in an open area such as outside or at a non-private room cafe is not allowed.
    • Teams may have all members participate in the same room OR two members participating in the same room with one other member participating from a different room OR all three members participating from different rooms.
    • Contestants may bring food/beverages to eat/drink during the contest. Contestants may also go to the toilet. But remember that contestants may NOT have communicate with anyone other than team members (see “3. Communication”).
    • Team members must practice COVID-19 infection prevention.
  2. One computer per team member
    • Each team member may use one computer for the contest itself, i.e., coding, program execution, and connecting to the contest system. Thus each team may have all three members coding at the same time.
    • Cloud computing resources such as AWS are not allowed.
    • A contestant may use different computing resources (computer/tablet/smartphone) for non-programming and non-submission tasks, such as communication with team members and troubleshooting network issues.
  3. Communication
    • During the contest, teams may communicate ONLY with their team members. Team members may talk to each other directly face-to-face. Note that team members should talk where no one else can listen.
    • Teams may NOT communicate with their coaches. Exceptions are allowed for the printing of problems, code, etc. and for solving any system or networking issues.
    • If it becomes necessary to contact the judges AND the clarification function on the contest system cannot be used, the contestant may call the contest officials. The telephone number will be sent to the teams before the contest.
  4. Non-disclosure of contest problems
    • Contestants are NOT allowed to make contest problems available to anyone other than team members until the end of the contest.
    • The one exception is for the printing of the problems by a person knowledgeable of the contest such as the coach. In such a case, that person will need to submit a pledge before the contest.
  5. Information that can be used during the contest
    • Teams may use physical and electronic resources during the contest. Physical resources include handwritten memo and printed material (such as books, dictionaries, and print-outs). Electronic resources include any files (including prewritten code) on the computer’s local disk as well as most resources on the Internet (such as Wikipedia and code examples).
    • Teams may use program generation tools (such as lex/yacc) and program completion/recommendation software.
    •  Translation services on the Internet are not allowed as some services may make public the contents that were translated. Contestants may use dictionaries on the Internet.
  6. Network access and computer issues
    • Contestants should participate from a fast and stable network environment. The contest will not be extended in cases where the contestant had computer issues and/or network access issues. We recommend that contestants prepare an alternative networking means, such as tethering with smartphone.
  7. Extension of contest
    • The contest may be extended for all teams if any issues occur with the contest system.
    •  The contest may be extended for a particular team if the contest officials decide that that team was unfairly disadvantaged.

 

【日本語の参考訳：2021 横浜大会特別ルール】

下記の特別ルールは，2022年3月15～16日に開催される横浜大会のみに適用されます．

 

コンテストは，Honor system（自主管理制度）で実施します．つまり，監督はいません．選手は全員ルールを遵守してください．ルールのいずれかを守らなかった場合，そのチームは失格とすることがあります．

 

選手にはコンテストの前にルールを遵守するという誓約書を提出していただきます．詳細は後日競技者に連絡します．

 

  1. 競技中の部屋
    • チームの選手だけしかいない閉ざされた室内で競技しなければなりません．部屋は，選手が占有できれば，選手の自宅でも大学でも構いません．屋外や個室ではないカフェなどの環境での参加は認められません．
    • 3人一緒の部屋でもよいし，2人一緒で1人が別，3人とも別々の部屋でもよいです．
    • あらかじめ飲食物を用意するのは構いません．用便のために室外に出ることは認められますが，その際も他者と面と向かって直接話をしてはなりません（”3. 連絡や相談”参照）．
    • Covid-19 への感染対策を十分に行って参加して下さい．
  2. 使用する計算機は 一人 1 台まで
    • 各選手は，コンテストそのもの（コーディング，プログラム実行，コンテストシステムの利用など）のために，1台まで計算機を使用できます．チームの選手が3人とも同時にコーディングしても構いません．
    • AWSなどクラウド計算資源を利用してはいけません．
    • 自チームの選手とのコミュニケーションやネットワークトラブル解消などのためにタブレットやスマホ等，別の計算機を利用するのは構いません．
  3. 連絡や相談
    • 競技中，選手は自チームの選手とのみ，話をすることができます．選手同士が直接面と向かって話すこともできます．ただし自チームの選手以外に会話が聞こえない場所にしてください．
    • コーチとの相談も禁じます． ただし，プリントの補助の依頼やシステムやネットワークのトラブルへの対応法を相談することは許されます.
    • 審判団に連絡する必要が生じた場合，かつ，競技システム上のClarificationの要請もできない状況の場合には，実行委員会へ電話を下さい．そのための電話番号は事前に連絡します．
  4. 問題開示の禁止
    • 競技終了までは問題を自チームの選手以外に開示することは許されません．
    • 例外として，コーチ等の事情のよくわかっている方が印刷のみをサポートすることを認めます．その場合に，該当する方には事前に誓約書を出して頂きます．
  5. 競技中に参照できる情報
    • 各チームは競技中物理的・電子的リソースを用いることができます．ここでいう物理的リソースは，手書きのメモや印刷物（本，辞書，選手が印刷したものなど）を含みます．電子的リソースは，計算機のローカルディスクにあるすべてのファイル（事前に用意したコードなど）や，インターネット上の多くのリソース（Wikipediaやコード例など）を含みます．
    • lex/yaccなどのプログラム自動生成ツールや，プログラム補完，推薦のソフトウェアを使ってもかまいません．
    • インターネット上の自動翻訳サイトの利用は認めません．なぜならサイトによっては，翻訳された内容が公開されるためです．選手はインターネット上にある辞書を利用しても構いません．
  6. ネットワークアクセスやマシントラブル等
    • 高速かつ安定したネットワーク環境を準備して下さい．競技時間内に選手の責任で生じたネットワークやマシンのトラブル等でコーディングや提出ができないなどのトラブルがあっても個別に競技時間を延長することはありません．予備の通信手段（スマホ等によるテザリングなど）の準備を推奨します．
  7. 競技時間の延長
    • 実行委員会側のシステムトラブル等が生じた場合は，全チームに対して競技時間を延長することがあります．
    • 特定チームだけに不利益になった場合には，そのチームのコンテスト時間だけを延長する可能性もあります．

 

【競技ルール FAQ】

  • Q1．インターネット上の辞書は利用してよいが，インターネット上の自動翻訳サイトの利用は認めません，というルールになっていますが，辞書と自動翻訳サイトの違いがよくわかりません．
    A1. 単語のみを調べられるサイトは認めます．たとえば，weblio英和・和英辞典（https://ejje.weblio.jp/）は問題ありません．しかし，weblio英語翻訳（https://translate.weblio.jp/），Google翻訳（https://translate.google.co.jp/），DeepL Pro（https://www.deepl.com/translator）など，文を翻訳できるサイトは認めません．翻訳された内容を公開しない翻訳サイトでも，禁止であることは変わりません．
  • Q2. 誓約書をコンテストの前に提出することになっていますが，いつ連絡があるのでしょうか？
    A2. 誓約書は受付の時間，15日（13:00-13:30）に詳細を伝えます．そのときに提出してください．
